Queen Quiz — Back Chat

“Back Chat”, the last single from Queen's tenth studio album “Hot Space”, was released in the UK on the 9th of August 1982.

The song was written and credited to John Deacon, and is a track that is highly influenced by funk. Deacon, the only member of Queen who grew up on soul music instead of rock and roll, decided to remove all rock elements from his songs on the album “Hot Space”. This created friction within the band, especially with Brian May, who wanted to keep some of Queen's signature rock sound in their new funk-inspired direction. As a result of this conflict, the band ultimately decided to include a guitar solo on the song “Back Chat.”
