Seven Seas of Rhye was released on 23 February 1974, the third Queen single to be released.
Following Queen's unscheduled performance of Seven Seas Of Rhye on the popular BBC TV program, Top Of The Pops, it was quickly rushed to vinyl and released two days after Queen's performance on the show.
Seven Seas Of Rhye was the first Queen single to enter the Official UK Singles Chart after gaining airtime on BBC Radio One; this persuaded Freddie Mercury to then take up Queen as his full-time career.
